Seaford Head 1/10/16

Conditions felt good today with an obvious drenching in the night that no doubt downed a fair few Chiffchaffs as for a short period of time at the top of Hope Gap, I counted 70 birds heading back inland, and by the end of the morning I had counted 170 birds during the circuit. Other than this it was mostly the same as yesterday with very little moving overhead, and by mid-morning, the wind had really picked up, and with squally showers for the rest of the day I gave up. Still nothing of note (not even Yellow-broweds) along the south coast, so hopefully next week's south easterlies will drop something good in the area.

Totals are:

Chiffchaff - 171
Grey Wagtail - 2 W
Wheatear - 2
Reed Bunting - 9 W
'alba' Wagtail - 10 E
Siskin - 2
Blackcap - 50
Whitethroat - 4
Goldcrest - 3
Redstart - 1 still present
Whinchat - 1 still present
