Seaford Head 10/4/13

A bit gloomy on the patch this morning. Despite covering the whole area it was much quieter than last night.

I have just seen a Nightingale come up on the pager for 7.10am this morning on the golf course. This is extremely early and was not seen by myself or Bob, so no idea who had that, but we were there about 10 minutes after this sighting. Not saying whoever saw it is stringing this bird, just clarifying that it wasn't me who saw it.

However what we did see were:

Firecrest - 7
Goldcrest - 4
Willow Warbler - 1
Chiffchaff - 1
Blackcap - 3
Avocet - 2 on scrape

No photos due to the gloom.

  1. that was Dad, he heard one croaking on the east side of the golf course on a brief dog-walk; incidentally I was down there about that time with Dick and Martin O'shea, didn't bump into you two sadly! some interesting differences, I had just two Firecrests, quite a few more Goldcrests, about 10 Chiffies but not a single Blackcap!

    2. Nice one, a great record and glad someone reliable saw/heard it. I think it might be the 1st Uk record for the year, not sure though. Good to get the Head on the map.
