Cuckmere Haven 14/4/15

An evening walk produced a decent amount of migrants, especially around Foxhole where Blackcaps were very numerous. However the highlight of the walk was a male Whinchat along the river which as always are brilliant to see in the spring.

Totals are:
Whinchat  - 1 male
Whitethroat - 1
Redstart - 1 male
Willow Warbler - 3
Chiffchaff - 9 including birds feeding in the stretch of reeds by the scrape
Blackcap  - ca.30 all around Foxhole
Whimbrel - 3
Ringed Plover - 1
Dunlin - 11 on the scrape
Wheatear - 6
Greenshank - 1

 male Whinchat - unfortunately a very poor picture of a superb bird

 

Coot - a surprisingly scarce bird in the Lower Cuckmere area
