Despite few blog postings I have actually done plenty of local birding but these outings have lacked any highlights. Regular evening walks down the Cuckmere last week produced extended families of
Shelduck and
Stonechat,
plus a flyover
Corn Bunting was unexpected. Peacehaven Cliffs walking towards Newhaven got some attention with the only highlight being a flock of 30
Corn Buntings (long-term presence) including some singing males.
Today however I returned to the Head after a week absence due to work. The highlight here being a very vocal
Firecrest first found at the east end of the row of trees near to Harry's Bush before re-locating to here. Very little else around.
Totals are:
Firecrest - 1
Spotted Flycatcher - 1
Sedge Warbler - 1 in sycamore canopy in Harry's Bush!!
