Tomorrow evening I embark on my 5 week long trip to Argentina and Antarctica. I shall try and update on here as I go, but no doubt there will be internet black out areas, something that I'm quite looking forward to in all honesty.
a hunched up impression but still showing the hindneck streaking, long sloping forehead and solid dark centred tertials with broad white tips creating a pale 'wedge', ageing this bird as a second-winter.

pictures are too bad but some primary tips had pale edges to the tips, but are shown here to be long, and the bill had a fleshy-coloured base, and a small pale tip. Again the neck streaking is evident.
pale underwing and an obvious ventral bulge, and now the patterning on the coverts is just about visible
cracking upper-tail and extremely broad and long-winged.
